Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
Frequently asked questions
If you have any questions that aren't addressed below, please feel free to get in touch.
How do I start?
I appreciate you may feel daunted about entering into therapy or counselling and so the first step would be to arrange a short phone call, to say hello and begin a conversation, which is not charged.

Next, we would have an initial session which lasts 90mins, to allow enough time for you to share a little bit about your background and current situation, and a chance for you to ask any questions you might have. If possible, we would try and meet for this initial session at my consulting rooms in Borough (SE1), otherwise via an online videocall.

If after the initial session you feel that you would like to continue, we can arrange a regular time for ongoing sessions.

Choosing an analyst who is right for you is vital to the success of any therapy, so if you feel that what is offered is not what you are looking for, I will be happy to suggest alternatives or refer you to a colleague.
How often and how long?
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy sessions usually last about 50mins and take place two or three times a week but I also see people once a week depending on personal circumstances and possibilities.

We can talk about what is best for you.

I work with an open-ended process, which goes at the right pace for you. Sometimes, people feel a difference after only a few sessions, but getting in touch with deeper patterns of thought or behaviour can take time, as trust and insight builds.
What about fees?
My therapy rates are variable depending on your circumstances. We can discuss them at the initial consultation.

I also have lower cost places for people who may otherwise be excluded from seeking therapy.
